With everything connected and the Base Unit plugged in, you should walk throughout the room and see that you are able to reliably place calls.
Your total coverage and signal strength will vary depending upon the original outdoor signal level, building construction, and general installation care. Coverage in adjoining rooms (next to, above, or below) will be reduced due to the walls or the ceiling/floor.
Should you desire to improve coverage, you may:
- Move the Base Unit and/or adjust the angle of the Base Unit antenna. – See below -
- Move the Signal Antenna to a higher location in your attic or outside
- Purchase an upgraded antenna when the original signal is very weak or for better coverage
Installation Tips

The YX500 Series kit includes an Omni directional indoor antenna that can be adjusted to provide optimal coverage. To provide the best coverage horizontally in all directions, adjust the antenna so that it is vertical. This optimal coverage pattern is shown to the left in light green color.

The YX024 is an optional indoor directional antenna used to provide a more focused coverage area in the direction of your choice. Simply point the directional antenna toward the direction you want to cover. Unlike the Omni directional antenna, the YX024 directional antenna has a minimal coverage pattern on the backside of the antenna.
|
To modify the coverage pattern, adjust the Omni indoor antenna away from the vertical position as shown above. This example shows the base unit and antenna mounted on the outer wall of the building, allowing for coverage area on the floor above.
