Are boosters legal?
Although we cannot speak for ALL boosters, zBoost and boosters from Wi-Ex are legal and use patented technology to monitor, adjust and power down to avoid harmfully interfering with the carrier networks. - What does the February 20, 2013 FCC ruling mean?
The FCC recently adopted new rules to improve signal booster design so these devices won’t cause interference to wireless networks. Our Boosters do not interfere with the wireless providers network. - If I already have a booster, do I need to do anything?
Our Boosters do not interfere with the wireless providers’ network. You do not have to power down the zBoost consumer products, unless your wireless provider representative or the FCC specifically asks you to shut it down. Continue using them and look for the notice your wireless provider will send you regarding registration of the product with them. They have until March 1, 2014 to devise a process to help you register your booster. Read the full text of the FCC advisory here.
